Kangaroos

Kangaroos are large animals that live in Australia. You can see kangaroos in zoos.

Kangaroos are not normal mammals. When a kangaroo baby is born it’s as big as a bean. The babies will stay in their mother’s pouch until they are twelve months old. Once the baby kangaroo is older it is called a joey.

If there is danger the mother drops the baby in a safe spot because the mother can’t run fast when the joey is in its mother’s pouch.

Kangaroos move in a strange way. Kangaroos’ small arms are not used for walking. The boss boxes any other male kangaroo that wants to be the boss. They fight by boxing and scratching.

Kangaroos are very smart.
